    I have this Front stand....
....and I couldn't get it to really attach to the bike. It comes with different attachments for the front....different pins. But nothing that fits the bike :frown: Universal my ass.

As you can see in this next picture it is in it`s upright (support the bike ) form but it doesn`t stay like this. It folds over in the middle and doesn`t lock.

Is anyone familiar with these things
I wanna sell it locally but I don`t wanna sell it if it`s broken

It isn't broke, thats how they work. The bike keeps it in place. I have the Vortex version and it works great on my 86. I kinda guide the top between the oil cooler horn and fender and slip the pin into the lower tripple, push down on the handle and shes up. You do have to use a rear stand at all times when using a front stand. Good luck.

I have one like that and it is a little unstable until the bike is sitting on it and will make your ass pucker pretty hard when lifting the bike on it. A two person job just to be safe or at least have the rear on a stand, but still a little spooky.

I couldn't find a place where any of those pins could fit.

The pin fits right up the center of your lower tripple clamp inside the steering stem. Your horn may be blocking the opening. I had to remove the horn on my 91 to use the stand but I can't remember what the Vf500 was like as I haven't seen one since the mid eighties.

Here is a picture of my stand being used on a Ducati Hypermotard that I'm currently rebuilding. You can see where the pin is inserted and since the front is supported by a single point you can also see how important it is that the rear is supported laterally or the bike will fall to the side. A center stand would work well if your bike has one.

    Thanks Jethro.

I did removed the horn and everything that was in the way....the pins are much to small for the hole in the lower triple. :-(

My stand came with a few different pins as yours likely did. It doesn't have to be a tight fit so you could take your biggest pin and wrap it with tape so it fits loosely and it should work fine. I've done this and it worked perfectly. The pin doesn't take any of the weight, it just keeps things aligned.

That's a good idea. Thanks Jethro.

Though I may sell the stand anyways as I don't really need the steering stem stand anymore.

It's not something I use everyday so I can see why you may not want to keep yours but I have regretted selling tools like this in the past and as it will work on almost any bike I would encourage you to keep it. You just never know when it will come in handy!

The bike looks cool sitting on it too!
Here it is holding up my 748

And my 5th gen too! This was a bit dodgy as the rear end wasn't well supported. I was changing the rear shock spacer and this rig was all I could come up with at the time. It worked!

I would keep it but when I swapped out my front tire I used it and it wasn't supporting the front properly. Sooo many parts of the bike were touching the stand that not all the weight was on the Stem and the Pin. The Largest pin in the kit is just wayyyy too small.

I think I need a front Fork Stand instead.
