Hi I have recently purchased an 84 VFR 750 which goes very well. The fork adj at the front right does not seem to make much difference to the handling and at speed around a corner it is very bumpy. Are the forks serviceable or in such an old bike is it advisable to replace them . Any ideas When stationary they seem fine ie bounce back Ok just feels bumpy at speed
The adjuster you speak of is just an antidive mechanism. It works only on compression when the brakes are applied. The early vfr fork is undersprung and underdamped as standard, fit heavier springs and fork oil (15w instead of 10) and you will notice a big improvement. Worn rear suspension can also lead to the front jumping believe it or not!
