I have a nagging braking problem. My ’98 has steel lines and ebc pads. When I use the rear brake only, I get a hard vibration from the front wheel and a loud noise. If I pull on the front lever while using he rear brake, the vibration and noise goes away and it never happens when using the front lever only. Does anyone have any ideas what is going on? A local dealer says that the rivets on the discs themselves are loose and causing the problem, but I’m not
    sold on that idea yet.

OK EBC pads, but what composition. Carbon metallic, sintered.... Could be that the leading edge of the pad is digging on the disc. My friend noticed this on his 1100XX(with the LBS of course) and he found it to be that because the second pad did not have the chamfered leading edge that the first one does the pad was biting into the cross drilled holes, thus causing this annoying vibration.

The ebc pads are HH sintered. Thanks for the information. I'll look into the pads as I've been swapping out rotors with no improvement.
