Does anyone know of a reputable powdercoating shop in Socal/OC? I've come across a couple with Google search, but I'd rather check with you guys to see if there's a better place to go.

Also, since this is my first post, I guess I should introduce myself/bike

Me: Jeff, 25 yrs old, I work in R&D for a car manufacturer that's been in the news a lot lately...

The bike: 1984 Honda VF700F Interceptor. I found her in the pits of Craigslist for a meager $300. I passed on it at first, but after reading up on the V4 engine I figured it was well worth it, even if it did have 50k mi. I don't have a decent camera to take pics as of yet, but I can upload some original pictures later. So far I've taken apart and cleaned the carbs (with some long distance help from Billy Carr) and gotten her running (and barely idling) which is amazing to me, considering that I could barely move the throttle when I first got it, and I knew less than zilch about carburetors. I was going to just use it as a beater, but after seeing Sebspeed's resto, I decided I'm going full tilt until she's finished.

The tires are flat. The chain is rusted and the sprockets are done. The cams are scored (at the end journals). Had to buy a new tank. The exhaust leaks, etc., etc. I know this is going to take some time and probably a lot more money than this bike is worth, but it's worth it to ME.

Anyway, I'm really glad I found this forum. There's so much good information on here that I've just been reading and reading the past few months.

Down the rabbit hole I go!

I just used good quality rattle can primer, paint and clear coat and I got good results. If I did it again the only thing I would consider was getting the frame sandblasted. All my hand sanding prep still left some imperfections (no one but me will ever notice, so just being picky).

    Good luck on your project!

Thanks guys! I've used the rattle can on a few previous projects and I agree, it's defintely the most practical way to go about it. To be honest, I'm not really that familiar with PC, but it seems to have a more durable finish to it. I'm weighing my options now. It looks like it's going to come down to how I feel about it once everything is in pieces. I'll keep you posted!

If you can, go PC. THe frame especially will benefit from the durable finish.
