I recently put a Sargent seat on my 5th gen and I love it. Looks great and comfortable.

My question is if any of us have used their quick pins to replace the stock bolts that hold the seat cowl on. I ordered them thinking they were a great idea. But when I read the instructions, it says I need to drill out the threads to be able to use them. Not to sure I want to do that. Anybody here using them and if so are you happy you did it? Thanks

I'm sure you'll figure it out eventually, but the Sargent seat is the absolute best money a person could possibly spend on a 5th Gen. I would go so far as to say the seat should be a MANDATORY upgrade.

I wouldn't drill the threads out. It sounds like a nice way to access the under seat compartment. In reality, you can't UNDRILL the threads once there're gone. The only way to fix them would be heli-coils or a new subframe. The simplest way to go about things is to carry a 5mm allen key with you. I keep one in the pocket of whatever jacket I'm wearing that day. If you don't want to carry an allen key, a quarter works in a pinch as long as the bolts weren't torqued to 1174 ft/lbs.

    KC-10 FE out...

I have quick release pins and love them. Heli-coils are a perfectly acceptable way to repair the thread if you ever decide you need to use the bolts again. As it is, I'm not sure anything is made that needs to be bolted at that point.

I drilled mine out almost 2 years ago. Do not regret it. Have not found a situation where I wished I had the bolts.
I use the rear seat cowl as a trunk now with the front part of the Sargent. Pretty handy.
