Hello all, I have recently become interested in buying a VFR. I have been looking to purchase a ST1300, but I am not sure that would be a wise choice for me right now. After many thoughts on the ST, I started looking at the VFR. Can everyone tell me what they used to ride before they bought their VFR and if they think the VFR would be a better ride the the ST? I am attaching a pic of my current bike, a VTX 1300C. Thanks for the input.
I used to ride an FZR1000, and I feel as if the bike (VFR) has a slightly more comfortable riding position and smoother power (though quite a bit slower)...but I didn't buy it for the power, just because it is an all around great bike that looks great, and will last a long time, much longer than other motorcycle engines if treated right. Stating the obvious, the ST is more about long distance comfort touring than the VFR is stock. I would say that if you do not think that the VFR has comfortable enough ergos for you, the ST is the next step between a VFR and a Goldwing. The ST will be more for long distance comfort, and has better wind protection, as well as more bells and whistles. Lots of guys on here swear by the VFR for touring, and think it has great long distance comfort (most have an aftermarket sargent seat however). I have Givi hard saddlebags on mine, and once I buy a sargent seat, and heated grips, I will be good to go. IMO...if you think you enjoy a more sportier ride (with better looks) that has great all around comfort and more nimble handling, then go with the VFR. If you are aiming more for touring, and want more amenities stock, more comfort, less sporty ergos, better wind protection, more luggage/storage, try the ST out. It is a lot more mass as well. Have you seen the new kawasaki concours? That is a nice bike. BTW, welcome to the forum! Where are you located?
Thanks for the reply. I don't ride very long distances at one time. I do think I would like the sportier feel of the VFR. I am located in the New Orleans area, in Terrytown.
Pick up a VFR with saddlebags (or without) and you will most likely be a very happy man. Not too much on them not to like. Keep it sleazy in the "big easy!" :biggrin:
