what is the actual coolant temperature it's gotten up to? I think the 5th gen fan kicks on around 215F or so. No idea about the older bikes. I know that up here in frigid Michigan, the fan never kicks on at idle temps during the winter. I have to give it some throttle for a bit to get the temp up. It usually idles around 150-180F when it's nice and toasty if I remember right. (remember this is from starting the bike in the dead of winter without daily rides too and ambient temps 0-32F)

On 2007 6th. Gen. thermostat opens about 180 Deg. F. Fan turns on at about 220 Deg. F. and turns off when it gets back down to about 210 deg. F. don't know about older models. Sorry!
