    Hi!

I have a 6th gen (RC46) VFR VTEC ABS 2008, with mileage 46.000 km. For several reasons the bike has (except a yearly "ride around the corner") not been used the last three years and therefore has had no oil change in that period, it currently has a 3 year Mobil1 fully synthetic oil on board.

I'm now in the process of preparing the bike for sale, including an oil & filter change, and would like to do that in the best possible way. What about engine flushing? I'm thinking of the following process:
    1. Drain the old oil
    2. Replace filter and fill a cheap 5W oil + some engine flush additive
    3. Run engine for 30 minutes
    4. Drain oil
    5. Replace filter and fill a quality fully synthetic oil

Any comments/experiences/recommendations of products are highly welcome!

    Best regards

You will get different opinions on the topic, but mine is no (5W ?)......don't do that, just do a normal oil change....

What do you hope to "flush" out? Dust? If you're concerned, ride the bike long enough to get the oil hot,
drain the oil, maybe replace the filter.

Could use seafoam with the old oil before an oil change

You have a solution without a problem. Just ride it. Change the oil/filter and sell it. If the buyer is knowledgable, just give him the oil/filter. He's likely to take your new oil out anyway so that he can be sure...

Have you seen an engine's insides that used synthetic oil? synthetic is the best cleaner because it goes everywhere.
