Greetings, VFR Fans! I am new to the VFR and this forum, and could use with some help here. I recently bought a 1997 VFR, and have to change the registration from Wisconsin to Minnesota. In Minnesota they require you to provide the engine block # as well as the VIN # on the title application (Wisconsin, home of the previous owner, does not). The owner's manual and the Honda shop manual both have crappy line drawings indicating the location of the block number. However, after removing the plastic, I find that the indicated location is completely covered over by a wiring harness. What is the best way to get to this number? Any suggestions, short of pulling the tank and the engine, would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks; Mike L

on my 93 I had to remove the side and front side ferrings on the right side....
I had to get part of the number looking from one side and complete it looking from the other angle...

Thanks for the tip! On my last attempt I took off the right side middle fairing, but ran into a sizable wiring harness blocking the view of the supposed location. (Lets see, take apart bike and dick around with the state's requirement for the registration, or ride with the Wisconsin plates? Its not raining, not snowing, the sun is shinning, the weather is beautiful! Excuse me, what was the question again?) It is supposed rain tomorrow, so I will give your suggestion a shot. Thanks again!

Use a flashlight and a mirror. I have the same bike and have been through the same thing. Of course, this is after removing the right side faring.
