Just got a reg/rectifer from electrosport today for my vfr800 1998. The shapes of the connector boxes was correct, but the pins for the three yellow wire junction box are in the wrong place. I cut the junction boxes off and soldierd the pins. Just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and if not let people know about it, because vfr's are going to need reg/rectifers. tommydale
I bought my r/r from them and had the same problem. I do not own a soldering set, so I had to bend the pins a bit, but they are connected. That was 3 or 4 weeks ago and she is still running fine. Hope that is a good sign. I was thinking about e-mailing electrosport and telling them. It is hard to get humans on the phone there. Nevertheless, good price for the r/r.
I sent them an e-mail and said "You may want to talk to your quality control people". I tried bending the pins, but could not get the junction boxes to "snap" securly. I am also going to try to find an extra heat sink to put with mine. In less than 5 minutes of idling it was very warm to the touch. I am new to this site and I have to say it is a great place for info. Tommydale
Hi , havent had a chance to look through the previous posts , but you can fit a late model vtec rectifer to the earlier 98/99 model with a very easy mod for the extra wire i have fitted one to mine as they are supposed to be more reliable than the earlier type
