Damn, I've been looking for ages for a clean one, settled for mine (in decent condition but missing the seat cover piece and does have cracked but repaired fairings) for 1750. This ain't much more at all and of course pops up after I bought mine. Typical.

Not me. I considered it but decided I didn't want that one. Might sound funny but that one is too far from original for me. If I do buy an 86 I want it to be closer to 100% original than that one, especially the exhaust. It went for about a grand more than I was expecting. Anyone else surprised it got over $4k?
Fairly surprised myself, but I'm also grateful for that. Got knocked off my VFR700 (same year and color) yesterday and I'll be talking with adjusters come Wednesday or so after the local shop checks it out This bike going for 4k just might have made this far easier for me.
I've bought a number of these older bikes in the past and your criteria was the same as mine. This bike did not have the stock exhaust - good luck finding that now. No centerstand either. The ad did state that it came with the stock rear fender, which is good because those are hard to find too. This particular bike is in very good condition, but since it is not 100% original and that it is not a 750, then I think it went for a bit more than it's worth. However, if I really, really wanted one and was willing to track down the missing OEM parts, I might have gone there.
I have a friend with an 86 white one in his collection. He will be letting it go and the condition is better than this one. He is keeping his 86 750 RWB. like me, we had new ones in 86 and know them very well. I am sure he will ask $5000 but may take a little less. If some one wanted a rideable museum piece from a guy with 15 museum pieces in his collection this is a call for action. I am working him for his pristine 93 VFR in white. His white one anD a RWB one are in the pix
shit... mine is all original..... few minor scratches....minor dents..... uhhh, oh yeah different paint.. but the rest is original.... oh wait I changed the fairings.... LOLOLOLOL
