Looked at past threads but nothing similar posted. Just picked up "new" 1999 VFR800Fi and travelled the 150 miles home. Problem is intermitent fuel gauge reading. I set off with 4 bars showing but 10 miles down road flashing last bar displayed. Filled up at next petrol station and briefly displayed full tank but within minutes gauge showed just over half a tank. Stopped and checked tank nearly full (it was). Gauge thereafter switched between flashing last bar for a few minutes and then going back to 2/3/4 bars. Stopped a couple more times when flashing last bar displayed but plenty of fuel still left in tank. Anybody got any ideas what the problem might be ?
Hm I don't know about on viffers but I know sometimes on older cages or cages that have sat for a while, sulfur from the fuel builds up on the sending unit and makes it stick. Sometimes people report on cages that a stiff dose of the additive Techron helps clean and free it up.
