Ok guys and girls here's one for you, let's see how good everyone's diagnostic skills are!

Last year after getting my 5th Gen back from the shop, it drove great but after 1 day I noticed a problem with the steering! When I would go to turn right everything would be ok, but when I would turn left at a dead dog slow speed like turning a corner from a standing start at a traffic light let's say, or a bit faster. It would feel like there's a 3 lbs of weight strapped on the left hand side of the bars and the bars would just pull to the left, follow me so far good! As I would go faster at cruising speeds around nice curves I could still feel that 3lb weight feeling on the left side of the handle bars a little bit everytime I would go to turn left!

Now before you all say "Hey CdnVffer it's your steering head bearing!" No it's not, it was replaced a couple of months before it went into the shop! So it's not the steering head bearing!

So now that I have taken the steering head bearing out of the picture, let me know what your diagnosis is, that would cause this 3lbs of feeling when I turn or lean into a left hand curve!!!!

    Cheers...

FIRST check tyre pressure and condition for cupping or uneven wear. Check tops of fork legs for exactly the same distance above top clamp.

Fork/wheel alignment may be skewed and needing readjustment.

DO your bars appear exactly straight when riding straight or a little off??

If the shop that did the bearing replacement did not test-ride the bike afterwards, it wasn't a good shop.....don't assume because you paid a professional fee that the work was done right.

(Probably not the voltage regulator this time.)

And the winner is a scalloped front tire, they did not check and fill the front tire up with the right air pressure!

So what did i learn from all of this never trust a certified technician and double check my tire pressure even if they are standing right in front of you!

Plus whenever I have or anyone has a problem or question, it's good to know VFR owners truly love their Vffer's. Because you guys are great when it comes to diagnosing problems with our Vffer's!!!

    Cheers...

NO GOOD SHOP WILL EVER let a customer's bike leave without checking/setting both tyre pressures !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IF they neglect that, find another shop, because they don't care about their customers safety or doing quality work !

IN addition, a really good shop will test-ride every bike before it's released to the customer. (Even if you are in for a simple oil change)

I was going to say the wiring harness is grabbing and binding when turning left therefore making it feel heavy, but yea a bad tire, too funny it only did that in only one direction though Hmm do you drive around always going right? or is that left?
