What has been your experience at the inspection station with aftermarket pipes ? Should I even try to get inspected with the TBR pipe on ? It's obviously aftermarket looking but isn't obnoxious like all of the Harley's 'round here.

I can switch back to stock but prefer not to play round robin with parts.

Again - I'm looking for Delaware Inspection experience only... What happens in other states doesn't help me in DE...

OK, went to Inspection Station today (by New Castle Airport)... LONG lines, due to only two lanes being open.

They opened a third and I jumped in that lane. The 'inspector' had me exercise all of the lights/controls and he noted the new tires... Then he asks me to start it up again... I thought - odd, just gimme my paper and I'll be on my way, sir....

    No such luck...

He dawdles around a bit on his computer and then BREAKS OUT THE NOISE METER. I was like: Are you F'n kidding me ???

Good thing I decided to put on the stock exhaust since I had most of the cat-back off for the tire swappage....

He had me hold the revs at 2500-3000RPM and then measured the noise level - I yelled over the gear-driven cam noise: "IT BETTER PASS, IT'S THE STOCK PIPE !"

He laughed and then said that I was good to go... UNREAL....

SO, it looks like they are on the lookout for loud pipes, guys... Go prepared and don't waste your time... They even sent a teen home empty handed in his fart-can equipped Integra... I laughed...

ALSO, the City of Newark, DE is cracking down on loud pipes... I have loped my way thru town with my TBR, but they did give me that look...

    Happy Riding !

I renewed my registration in March. I called in advance, and they said that motorcycles are supposed to go through the REINSPECTION lane - that's the one where you come back if you have failed inspection in your car or whatever. No need to go to the "regular" lanes with long lines!
At the New Castle office, that's the lane on the far left. I rolled right up, only a car or two ahead of me, with long lines in the other lanes.
    HTH next time,
    Rod
