I'm considering putting a voltmeter on my '05. Anyone have any install pics? Or for that matter any voltmeter install. I'm looking for some ideas on installation.

The first is with ignition on. Ive only been riding a short distance once a week so my battery is low.
The second is with bike at fast idle just after starting. DSCF3042.jpg DSCF3045.jpg DSCF3046.jpg DSCF3047.jpg
You can see the voltmeter at 14.4V.
Ive put on a few install photos.
I had a VFRness from Josh Tilton and a 4 point relay. Easy install under the seat along with the heated grips (so they run off the ignition.
I had my dad fabricate an aluminium bracket to kind of match the other side where the grips control is located. I just drilled out the opening and filed it smooth. Any questions, just ask.

Thanks for the pics. I was thinking more along the lines of cutting into the fairing. I just don't want it to be a hack job. The VFR is a beautiful bike. I was wondering what location would look more or less stock.

I've seen several Datel installs where they cut into the black instrument panel cover on the sides.

Mello - What model is that you have? Any features you either wish you had or find you didn't need?

That's exactly what I was thinking of doing. How hard is it to access the back of the panel for installation? My VFR doesn't have the black trim panel. It's all red and part of the fairing.

It was easy on mine: I just pulled the left side of the fairing off like I was doing an oil/filter change, and worked with an Xacto knife. Dunno about an '05.

I have been running it since this spring and pretty happy with it. -- I hear its not waterproof and not shock proof, Dont mount it on the top triple tree. -- So far, so good....
