I did build the stand myself, it turned out well and was built mostly from scrap I had from another project last winter. I posted a thread about it here:http://vfrworld.com/forums/showthread.php/45576-Homemade-Rear-Lift I have 2 welders in the shop, one is a very old Lincoln stick welder I rarely use. The other is a Hobart Handler 140 with the gas kit added. I am thrilled o death with this little welder, if you can weld at all it will make you look good. It runs on 110V so I can use it anywhere, it is perfect for 90% of the welding I would be likely to do.

I have shown that picture around work to those that wear a half helmet. I can't imagine how nasty this wreck could have been if not for the full face helmet. I don't need any help getting uglier!

I did sweep most of the gravel out of the road before riding off, certainly couldn't leave it there for the next guy. As TNRabbit said though, I am fairly sure the gravel on this road gets there from driveways and gravel on the shoulders being kicked up. it naturally accumulates in a turn just like the inside of a turn in a river gets shallow from silt buildup. The only fault I see in this is mine for not seeing the gravel in the first place!

New gear and parts are trickling in now, the bulk of it should be here the end of this week or early next. I'll be back on the road soon!

My bad. I was looking at your pictures from a cell phone so they were not really clear to me. I see now, on a computer, that it is apparent it is as you say, accidental. Though I am not happy that you wiped out, I am really happy to see that is not a deliberate malicious act. But it is not unknown for this to take place by some shirt sighted malicious person.

    Good luck in your repairs.

Ow, a painful experience for sure! But glad it wasn't more painful (physically or financially) than it was... I feel lucky I've been on a 30 year streak without that kind of event, but I know as long as I keep riding, it's likely just a matter of time! Would appreciate pics of your slider gear when it's installed- I've got some stuff on order for my new 1200F, but still pondering what the best solution is.

Anytime I see a steep incline of terrain real close to the road I slow up, that is a common problem. Glad you got to ride her home.

There is a picture 90% done. I have since added the Honda tank and knee pads and done a good wash and wax job. I even managed to fit in a nice test ride before I had to leave town for work for a week.

The only lingering issue seems to be the brake light won't turn off. Maybe the switch got damaged somehow and it isn't apparent looking at it? At any rate, no amount if adjustment helped so a new one is in the way.

The Akra exhaust sounds and looks great, and it handles better than ever the PR3s on now.
