I don't know what its called, but the black plastic guard in the middle of my front forks has a crack running across it. Anyone replaced this before?

That black plastic piece at the top of the fork slider tube is there to (hopefully) protect the chrome on the fork tubes from stone chips and road debris. I had to remove mine when I painted my fork slider tubes. There's a groove cast into the fork slider tube that the fork guard snaps into. You'll have to remove the fork to replace that fork guard. Just so you know, that plastic guard fits pretty tightly on the fork slider tube,it takes a good bit of wiggling to remove it.

Yea, it looks like it took a rock! How hard is it to remove the fork?
