I stopped asking that question very early in my career. I found that it started far too many arguments at roadside. I just told people they are being stopped for speeding and left it at that. If they asked how fast, I told them. If they wanted to see the reading, depending on where we were, I allowed that too, though there is nothing here to say I had to do that, or even save the reading. But allowing people to see the reading, I believe, prevented arguments from starting. Except for those people who put stones in their hub caps or Styrofoam cups behind their grill. That always fux up my radar. Oh, and the guy with the loose fender....well I gave him a couple tickets to the Police Ball and a get out of jail free card. And a condom so he won't breed.
