the electronics on the cooling system have decided to go south all at once. The fan no longer works, checked by shorting out the fan switch on the radiator - read 12 volts but nothing turns on. I tried shorting out the thermosensor as per the manual to get the gauge to read hot - nothing happening. I am reading 4.8 volts only which is really confusing me instead of battery voltage. I have checked and replaced the fan fuse to no avail. Before I start ordering fan motor, thermosensor etc, can anyone enlighten me on where the gremlin might be? regards tancred9
I thought the cooling system on the 3rd gen was pretty simple. Power, thermostat on radiator, fan and ground? Check the wiring diagram. You may have a wiring gremlin, so check the power wire for shorts. I would repalce the thermostat and run power direct to the fan for function. If it does not turn on, its fried as well. If you replace both, and its getting full power, bypassing the thermostat to the fan better turn it on. Larry
Can you turn the fan by hand--sometimes the bearings get crunchy and seize up, or the brushes overheat and melt the plastic carrier. Electronics--check/trace the wiring circuit from fuse to ground.
