    I have a 1996 VFR 750

Got it used. Has about 20K miles. I would like to change the coolant.
Can somebody advise me on haw to drain and flush out all the old junk.
I'll be replacing it with a propylene glycol premix called Engine Ice which may not be compatable with the old coolent.

    What is the coolant capacity?

Any advise here would be helpful.

    Thanks,

    BikerMike

Hmm manual says .61 of a gallon. I've just used good ole anti frez, you know the green stuff, at 20K mine was still looking pretty darn good. so I've left well enough alone, but one never knows so as easy as it is, just replace it.. don't really think there is anything wrong with any anti frez as long as you have it, it's all good.

Oh crap Mike. I got your message but forgot to call you back. We had a reception type thing yesterday so I was busy bbqing and drinking. I was thinking VMan should know how to answer your question since he rides the same thing. I actually haven't done a flush and fill. On the old bike I just bought, I'll probably just pull it off and do it. I'm thinking the bike will be more or less totally dismantled. Now if it gets back together, that's another thing. :)

I haven't heard of Engine Ice but looking at the website I don't see why yuo cannot use it, just make sure you flush the system of the current coolant well. Their claim of a 50^ reduction seems a little high, though the do go on to say 10-15^ is more realistic. One other thing that really stuck is that they are using this in racing applications even though it appears to be useable for daily non-race applications as well. My personal preference is Peak antifreeze. I used it in my 84 CR125 with no issues. Otherwise, i see no problem using this in your bike as long as the system is thoroughly flushed.
