Hi, my Fi has just started slipping the clutch, does anyone know if replacement is a simple job? Do I need any special tools? The oil doesn't need replacement yet so I was going to put it back as I don't think it will last till the next oil change. Will I also need a replacement gasket for the clutch cover? No special tools are needed. What you do need is a new gasket for the engine cover and the shop manual would be helpful. I have the 2001-2006 Honda F4i shop manual on in a pdf format if you want a copy I guess I can mail you one but its not really necessary. What you have to remember is to get a shallow baking sheet and pour some oil in it so you can soak the new clutch disks for a few hours, you do not want to install them dry. You may even think about replacing the springs to heavier ones esp if you like to do WOT acceleration, if not then the springs you have will do.
A couple of things to think about. Something to consider is the quality of oil in your bike. Some automotive oils have "friction reducers". Friction reducers can make your clutch slip. I had a Vmax that I thought was having clutch slipping. It also needed a new tire. I ordered both. The clutch was back ordered so I put on the new tire. I was getting wheelspin. Clutch was fine.
