has any one looked into having there 02-06 rear rim chromed? I would probabley do front and rear. I just wonder if that chrome will cost more than just getting new ones:scared:I would like to take it off myself and take the rim to be chromed

    Fuzzy dice & coon tails

I understand that you can get fuzzy dice and a coon tail at JC Whitney to go with those spiffy chrome wheels.

I try my best to irritate fake Harley riders and cake decorators as well.

by fake harley riders, do you mean the posers that cruise on sundays with the perfect black leather jacket and shiny cop style helmets? i used to make fun of them, but I've lightened up. It's just that I grew up with real bikers so it took me a while to become more accepting. :) But now, some of the harley guys don't even wave at me when I ride by on my red 'rice burner'. Oh well. I say ride whatever you want, just ride...and ride hard.

    Chrome Wheels

I just had mine chromed. My mechanic charged me $200 per rim to have them done. The single swing arm makes it look sweet.

Aren't these wheels aluminum? I've heard of problems with chroming aluminum because it does not form a good bond and chips after a while. My friend's TLR1000 has chrome wheels and they are chipping bad. Anyone ever heard of this or is this an uncommon problem?

I think you're right about them being aluminum because I saw an article about polishing them on another site. I don't know how well chrome bonds to aluminum, though. I wondered at the cost of plating vs. buying racing wheels myself. Doesn't marvic or someone make lighter nice looking wheels for the VFR? that would kill two birds so to speak. you could drop some of the excess weight and have shiny wheels.

    Painted Wheels?

Has anybody tried painting their wheels to match their bike (i.e. red wheels for red VFR)? I like the way that looks on the Ducatis and Aprilias. If so, any pictures?

Dymag's Sport Magnesium wheels will work on the 800, but you still need to convert your rear spindle.

Older VFR's with single swingarms can be converted to use wheels for Ducati.
