    Hello Guys

new here, quite active in sohc4.net as i race a cb500 four in the Italian vintage championship, need some help as i might become a VFR'r too :)

Going tomorrow to check out this beauty

Vfr 750 f Moto e Scooter usato - In vendita Torino

one owner for the last 15 years, should be very well kept,

Still, would like to hear what to check specifically in a 3rd gen VFR.

I am quite handy, my racer is self built and tuned to 61 rwhp, but never touched a VFR's

Thanks in advance for your feedabck

    Ciao from Milan

    TG

PS - sounds to me like this should be in the mechanics section, admin, if you feel i'll get better response in the general forum, feel free to move the post,

The 3rd Gen is a solid machine but like most older VFR's it is prone to R/R failure. Also keep in mind that these 3rd Gens are pushing 20 years in age which means that many of the original plastic parts will be brittle and easy to crack. Check all the fork seals and all hoses for signs of cracking due to their age.

Oh and one more thing....WELCOME ABOARD!!!

I picked up a '93 over the winter and spent some good times cleaning it up, refurbing the suspension (got lucky because it came with a Fox shock and RT/gold valve forks), cleaning the vast quantity of chain lube coating everything below the waist, plugged in a VFRness on principle, checked out the tire pressure and by golly it feels like I am back on my old Gen 5. Amazing modern bike! I'll be fitting a set of Angels fairly soon and the only decision will be 170s or 180s. How many bikes give that freedom of choice in tires?

    Knock on wood.

I would ask if the shock was ever done, valve spec, typical maintenance... They are really bulletproof machines..

I would put up with alot of problems from a gen 3 if the body work was complete and in good shape. As Rollin said they are a great platform and the very best of the VFR family in my opinion. My favorite but that is no secret. Always on the hunt for one .

    OK, guys, brought her home.

she's really cute, not far from mint, need to do fork seals and put new pads instead of the ones that got soiled with oil.

sure changing all the fluids today

but other than that, very clean, not messed with at all. the 30K motor just purs like a pussycat, sets on 800 rpm at the touch of the starter button.

    thanks again foryour help

    beauty shots coming soon ;)

Congrats!! I'm sure you'll love her and she should last you many more years to come. I just wanted to mention one other thing about these 3rd Gens. I've owned two 1993 VFR's and both put out alot of radiant heat on the right side near your inner thigh. It is wonderful when the outside temp is near freezing but can be slightly uncomfortable during the summer requiring adjustment of your riding position. This seems to be the norm after talking to several other 3rd Gen owners who have confirmed the same on their bikes. So how do you like that gear driven cam whine?

    she sure sounds good,

been taking all sorts of things apart, changing all fluids, now she's really clean, just need to fit a rear tire (which I've got) and insure her.

    will report.
