this is kind of a stupid question i guess. i was looking at past threads on chain and sprocket replacement and was wondering if most were interested in an installation thread from start to finish. im doing mine this weekend and was going to write it up with pictures if there was interest, or is it a pretty basic install that no one cares.

I just wanna see someone do the master link at the end. I'd like to do my own, but not sure if I can.

Ha this should get interesting, Just so happens a member here is ready for this too, and we where going to do it over a beer or two. So, if there interest in this it would be a good time on our end to do a step to step process. It is pretty straight forward, the biggest deal is having the correct chain press to be able to finish the job.

I also found it pretty straight forward on the VFR, my only remaining obstacle is getting the master link pressed. I think I'll lod the bike into my dad's truck, go to the local motorcycle shop, and "rent" their chain press for $10 and return it 5 minutes later when I'm through.

master link no problem .....put it together loose you know (chain slack )press link together via vise grip chanel lock pliers. use a good set of pliers tools are everything, make sure the little grooves are both showing then put clip on in round side going toward the front sproket. There should be a little space in the link clip to put in the first groove loose then line it up straight with back pin groove use chanel locks with end that moves just off back link groove then squeeze slowly then you will hear a click sound thats it adjust chain go ride. to break stock chain get a chain link remover line it up on pin turn it slowly it will push pin out(canib way use grinder and a punch) ..thats all folks it is that easy ...........

You mean me? Please document as much as you can. That would be very much appreciated. I just got my chain and sprocket kit in the mail yesterday. Borrowing the tool this weekend, and was going to attempt to do this during the week.

I didn't think a chain and 2 sprockets would weigh as much as they do.

I'm not talking about the snap ring kind. I'm talking about the riveted, more permanent kind.

Sounds like a plan. Lets meet up sometime next week. I will have the tool with me. Lets document both. While we are at it, lets do the headlights also....yes...and document. That way as we take the bike apart, we can really see how much I got ripped off. hahahahaha.

Not sure I can fit a 6-pack, chain, sprockets and springs in my backpack. Might have to do a beer run or 3.

While we are on the topic of bling, was next to a Ducati at a light, and noticed, what I thought was the stator, spinning. Very cool, how they made the cover half see-thru, and you can just see that baby, spin. That alone, makes me want a ducati. Coolest effect ever.

If it is not the stator, then please ignore this post and my stupidity.
