Chain adjustment

    I am about to adjust my chain again. Worried maybe i have it too tight .....as this is the fourth time already i will be adjusting it with only 4713 kms on it. I set it to the specs in the manual. ...should i leave it a bit looser?

    Looser is better than too tight. May be change the method you're using?

    I haven't had to adjust mine at all and I'm at 6200 miles. Put it up on the center stand and spin the back wheel while watching the chain slack. You might have the same issue as me in whereas the chain appears to go back and forth between tight and loose over the course of one complete rotation. I just make sure mine isn't too tight at the "tight spot" or too loose at the "loose spot". I've had other chains do that on my 6th gen before, but never actually figured out what was causing it.

    Yep, if you've had to adjust it more than a couple times after a new installation, you've got it too tight.

    What you have to remember is as the swing arm rises as you sit on the bike and then you go over bumps, as the swing arm rises it lengthens and this tightens the chain. Good quality chain should only need a couple of tweeks in its lifetime, I have 55,000ks on the one on my CB750

    besides what he said above, you wana adjust your chain on the tight spot when its cold. All chains have loose spots and tight spots, you have to rotate the wheel until you get the tight spot. I grease the chains every other fill up, or rule of thumb if you touch the chain and your finger comes away greasy, your should be ok. Anyway, the adage you get what you pay for is especially true with chain and sprockets/kit. :vtr2:
