Hi -in a previous post I asked about making VFR ( 750 version) into a 'streetfighter' - one of the options I was considering was Fireblade ( 929 -954) forks/brakes. Actually the RC 51 would be better, matching VFR weight more closely.
Anyway, on another site ( www.vfrdiscussion )there was a big writeup - a guy did a lot of special machining, etc - even including new caliper mounts to use Yam. monoblock calipers - The point being, apparently the ' simple bolt on using fireblade triple clamps ' isn't so hot - first, the 'blade triple clamps give different trail, making turn in slower. and the forks are about 3 /4" shorter, so the common 'lower forks in clamps' option to quicken steering isn't great . . . At least going by that post /discussion. Turns out the guy who did all the machining, carefull measuring etc. promptly crashed, so maybe something wasn't quite right anyway.
bottom line as far as 'upgrading' VFR forks, the conclusion seems to be - send out to Traxxion or race tech or somebody, rebuild the VFR units. not nearly as cool, parking lot show and tell.

Hmm, that is good to know. I also had considered changing them out. I guess that is way beyond what I'm willing to go through in order to have cool forks. :) I have hit the asphalt recently enough that I'm in no hurry to do it again!
