The Morgan Carbtune I ordered arrived in the mail yesterday. I am a little surprised that the restrictors don't come pre-installed, but it only takes a few minutes to splice them in. My carburetors had been bench synced when they were rebuilt, which was good enough for the bike to run, but was pretty far off according to the carbtune. The process was reasonably easy with the exception of reaching the adjustment screw for the No. 2 cylinder, fortunately this was was within spec. I used a 110 degree angle screwdriver which worked well for cylinders 1 and 3. Part of my problem was getting to the No. 2 adjustment screw and the other part seeing what I was doing. The tool completely obscured my vision when using a mirror and I could only see with one eye at a time looking directly at it. I have more appreciations for how useful depth perception is now. If anyone has any techniques or tips for reaching that screw, I would love to hear about them. After syncing the carbs, it idles much better and doesn't feel like it wants to die below 1500 rpm, is much smoother, and has more power. The whole process took about an hour, will probably take me much less next time. Overall, this was a huge improvement, and well worth the time. Cost in tools was about half what a shop would have charged to sync them just once, plus I will need to do it again after I adjust the valves, but that is a project for another weekend. Once the parts come in, the next project on my list is rebuilding the petcock.
