I've used straight Simple Green on these same carbs and it works great. Regular, corrosive type carb cleaner will strip the factory protective coating off. (phosphorus?) Then your carbs can corrode inside as well as out. There are other cleaners like SG, but be careful and read the labels. Some will eat aluminum and white metals.

I use a product put out by ZEP called I D Red. It comes in a one gallon container around here because California has made difficult to get , I dont know how it will be sold elsewhere. It will cut most any goo instantly and is safe with the finish on your carbs and will dry almost instantly. Safe with clear coats but best to avoid raw painted surfaces.

Simple Green can be found at most Industrial Supply houses. Do you have a Fastenal store near you?
