Cam wear problem solved?

I used to work in a Honda dealership in the late 80's and the Honda V4's back then had a serious problem with premature cam/follower wear. We used to routinely replace, under warranty, the cams and followers on all of the V4 motors back then.

Is this still an issue with the current design or was this one put to bed?

If I recall, it was only the first two model years of the V4, and hasn't been an issue since. That puts it's start back to about 83, or 84.

The '86-'87 VFR700s and 750s were Honda's apology for the earlier cam wear issue. These bikes were super quality pieces and some say the best VFRs ever. Closest VFR to true sportbike status; the touring side of things has crept in with each new addition.
