Hey Drewl, I used to fly a 1975 421B serial 914 or 918. It was a real piece of crap until we overhauled both engines. It was primarily a shuttle between FL and the Turks and Caicos. Lost a jug on takeoff in ABQ. Scared the crap out of the owner and finally decided to put some money into it.

Anyway, I have an ATP ME and SE, CFII, MEI.
I was recently flying a citation XLS till last month and now I'm on the Citation Sovereign.

Aviation beats working for a living!!!

    Be safe!!!

Nice plane! My brother-in-law bought one a couple years back and put floats on it. A little underpowered on the water...

I'm a private pilot, single-engine, VFR (visual flight rules) only. Not current now, though.
It figures that the same kinds of guys who fly would prefer the VFR.

I've been flying as a career for 6 years now. I did contract flying(c-172), flight instructing(diamond aircraft 20 and 40; piper arrow and seminole) , flew a jetstream 32 for a commuter airlines(before the FAA shut us down), and now finally fly the emb-170 for a respectable "regional" airlines. And every time I go to work I think 'I should have been a firefighter.'

Funny, I'm working at a fire base in NorCal right now thinking, "I wish I was a full time pilot again."

Ours was a custom paintjob. Green/Gold over cream. Took Cessna's boring paintjob and made it way better.

Dash-10's, gross weight kit, the first RVSM certified 441 in the US (as well as being one of the testbeds equipment STC)... PLUS, dual Chelton's, etc. The thing was a dream.

Our big inspection and repairs were done about 5 years ago.

Of course now it's in Venezuela running drugs or something. Waste of a good airplane.

Haven't flown in years either. I used to fly a photographer and jumpers while working on my hours but really just didn't have the passion to make a career out of it. The jump airplanes were poorly maintained & basically I was still a kid myself so I let the jumpers push me into some situations that I shouldn't have. When the first kid came along, I decided to put flying on the back burner. Maybe I'll get back into it someday. I've been getting the itch again recently.

My first bike was a little Kawasaki EX500 but I've wanted a VFR since I was a teenager. Of course the focus of the bike has changed somewhat since 1993 but my focus has too. 15 years later, the VFR is still well suited for me.

    Wishful Thinking

Reminds me of the annecdote about a flight instructor seeing one of the NASA shuttes flash by in orbit wishing he was up there, and the orbiter captain looking down though a scope at the Cessna saying "Now, that's what flying is really all about...", or some such thing.

It seems the the grass always seems greener...

Left or right seat time count. Back seat (business or coach) doesn't.

    No longer current.
Private, single engine, VFR, fixed wing.
I used to fly my dad's Meyers 200D until he sold it. Got 20 hours in a PT17 and 5 in an AT-6. 3 Hours in a Stinson.
I sold my 170 hp STC'd Cherokee 140 3 years ago and quit flying due to medical issues.

I miss flying, but not what the gov't is doing to GA.

I did years ago. (C150,72,82) Went and did the 40hrs for VFR private pilot. When I took the FAA physical. They found out I was color blind in pastel colors. So they would not allow me to fly at night. I could see the red tower/airport lights. But I had to be a lot closer than normal person. Needless to say I did 40hrs and quit. I really miss it.

No kidding. Don't get me wrong I still like my job but the passion is gone. It's all I can do to stay awake at work. I love the flying but hate all the b.s. in between unfortunately only about 20% of my time at work is spent flying. It beats flipping burgers though.

I nodded off on my first solo 5 hr cross country flight. Several times actually. I kept waking up visualizing myself in a nose dive...which woke me up good and proper...for another 5 minutes.
