If it has been well taken care of, and new tires sounds like it would be worth it..

For only 2G, it might be fun to see just how far it will go. He's going to put about 500 into it for the service and tires so he must think it is worth it. If the engine has no unusual noises, it could be fine for another 100,000.

Some people here will say go for it. My question is what are you looking for and what would your riding plans be? Would you be willing to pay $2500 - $2800 for a bike with 30k miles?

-I'll tell you what I do with bikes.... Since it is really my only anal retentive passion in life, when I decide what bike I want, I look to find the lowest mile version of that bike I can find. Then I squeez the seller of the bike for all he can stand and make a great deal. (My 4th gen had 4200miles and my current 5th gen had 6400 miles when I bought them.) - I really wouldnt ever consider a bike with 100k miles for almost any price. -Thats just me.

    Good luck,
    MD

Mello's correct. With all of the low mileage VFRs out there for just a bit more money why buy one that's been around the Equator 4 times? Even with good maintenance, the parts have a limited lifespan and at 100K things are inevitably suffering some wear and tear. 2K seems like a deal until the first expensive wear-related major issue pops up and then you have a dilemma on your hands: dump a lot of unrecoverable money into a 100K+ bike or sell it at a loss. I ran a new car dealership for years so I have some experience in this area.
