I had a front brake binding on my '90 VFR project, cleaned, inspected, lubed, reinstalled... the pads still bind. So, I removed the really sticky pistons and seals, ruining one piston in the process. No worries, just give a call to my local aftermarket shop -- oops, no piston/seal kits available? What? I've rebuilt second generation calipers in the past so I assumed that kits would be available for the newer models too.

So, anyone know of a source? I see ebay has a seller in England with kits but a disclaimer that they may fit other market bikes, but he only warrants that they will fit the UK models. Anyone?

(Honda wants $120+ for these parts)

I have spare set here if need them i had to get replacment caibers as my right side one the arm was bent but the pistons are fine

I used rubber grease just little bit on my piston seals and they work great know, pump the old ones out insteed of trying to use pliers

as i damaged one set myself this way, just take the pads out and sqwezze the brake lever till all the way out or just about.

dont be a cheap prick! buy OEM Honda seals...or you could be like me and re-use your old seals and dust ones. This is the law though!!!!. you gota thorouly clean out the mug and smiggma out of your old calipers, and I mean clean!!! dont use a nasty pick as your gona gouge up the aluminum channel that the seal sits in...its gota be totally clean, my seals were not nasty as I cleaned them with a real soft tool, (my finger nail - and looked at em under magnification) if I could of, (didnt want to wait-I woulda ordered new OEM stuff)...no issues and tits brakes!!! its a very sastisfying re-build I tell yah...

I have a set of reverse pliers that grab for maybe a spring clip, (think they are transmission specialty tool) any whoo, you can grab the piston from the in-side and not gall up the out-side, if your on your game, you can coax the pistons out far enough with the lever and just pull them out with your mitts...(filthy-dik-beaters) make sure you clean that tea stain off them old pistons or your just kinda wasting your time mind yah. Use a nice beat up scotch brite pad...far as re-inserting_?> you can use poosy juice or maybe some brake fluid - I have used Brembo specialty brake stuff in the past. difficult to get...Cheers and gud luck!!!!

Unless they've just run out in the past 2 months, I know you can get all of the rubber seals from Honda. I ordered mine thru Ronayers.com. I even refreshed my little rubber boots that fit over the mounting bolts just for completeness sake. wasn't very expensive.

As for the hard stuff, pistons, etc, I have 2 front right calipers off a 93 (gen 3) that should work for parts if you want them. PM me and you pay the shipping and they're yours. I had to use the left caliper off of the front on my rear, as I buggered up my rear caliper trying to rebuild it. The other right was just a spare.

BTW, I went to autozone and no one could direct me to the poosy juice isle.

Oh it's over by the hydraulics--and it works best with a little pressure and makes you go faster and harder. Not sure if it is the right application since brake fluid is for stopping the action.

I have extra brake calipers that I'll sell for cheap if you are still having an issue with this.

Have you ever considered writing technical manuals?

I ended up getting a complete set of aftermarket pistons/seals from the English connection on ebay (aughacashel). One caliper set is about $60 and he ships quickly. Looks to be excellent quality and they work great.
