Ok, here's a question for you: what do you consider the best tire gauge?

Preferably something not involving laboratory equipment

Dunno if it's the best tire gauge out there Firehand but I carry a CruzTools TirePro digital gauge on all my bikes.
It's small, lightweight, and super simple to use.

Here's a pic and some info lifted right off the CruzTools website.

The TirePro Digital Tire Gauge is ideal for motorcycle and ATV use, with a large display and accuracy over a wide range of pressure levels. Readings are shown to 0.1 psi levels, with bar, Kpa, and Kg-cm2 scales also provided. An ergonomic shape fits nicely in your hand.

I switched from one of the small digital gauges to an Accu-Gage mostly because the small digital gauge was never quite small enough to get between the front wheel and the brake rotors without taking a bit of skin. An advantage to the Accu-Gage is that it has a pressure release valve, so if you got a bit too much air in you could easily release the right amount without disengaging the gauge. I didn't get mine at Amazon; but here's a link: Amazon.com: Accugage Tire Pressure Guage with Hose - 0-60 psi in 1/4 lb. Incr. RA60X: Automotive

Gotta admit I really used to hate that myself FoothillRyder, that's why I installed angled valve stems in my rims.
