Ran over something. Bent my rear rim. Losing about 5psi per week. Is it aluminum? Can I try hammering it back to shape? 6th gen.

Check with a local MC shop and see if they have someone they use or can do it. Had this happen to my Duc when I was rear ended and the dealer used a guy who specialized in wheel and frame straightening.

If you strike out Rob, I have a 5 spoke with a very small dent on the edge that can be balanced out. Price? A burger and beer.. If yours is not too bad, they can be repaired. I am almost 100% sure they are aluminium.

There is shop a few doors down from me at work that specializes in repiring
bent, dented and even wheels with chunks missing. I've seen them do some pretty significant
repairs. Check with one of your local car dealers and see if they have anyone they ise
for doing wheel repairs and refinishing. Aluminum rims can be repaired, and if you need I can check with the shop near me to see if they know anyone close to you.

Thanks guy's. I'd like to try it myself but would rather have a pro do it. Might take you up on it Randy.

I bent my front rim in a slow speed hit on a deep pot hole, wasn't too bad. I was due for a new tire so I took it a local shop that specializes in rims. He removed old tire, fixed rim, mounted new tire and balanced it! All for $100.

That's a problem that can be fixed with the proverbial BFH and a block of wood. :smug:

Working with alloy, try to fix it in one big hit, not a number of small ones cuz the metal will fatigue more, i believe, and be easier to fracture.

I do business (non-wheel business) with a very good wheel repair shop and they won't touch a motorcycle wheel for liability reasons. Think about what that means in the context of you and your wheel. I would get a new wheel if I were you. No charge for that......; )

That would be for a car wheel shop I take it? There are a lot of MC related shops that do work on wheels or have someone they use and that is why I mentioned going to an MC shop.

It is a car wheel repair shop. It's their choice on what to fix and what not to. In hindsight, I would change my statement about getting a new wheel to, it depends on how bad it's boinged up.
