I am running a 1996 VFR750 and it's time for new tires, I decided on the Bridgestone Battlax T30, but when I went and spoke to the guy at the Honda shop he said my bike was too heavy for the T30 and I'd need the T30GT. Looking at the Bridgestone web site it says the GT is for bikes that weigh more that 551#, mine is 465# according to the manual. Is there a benefit to running the GT? I have a fairly relaxed riding style but don't want a tire that does not work on the bike when my riding is not as relaxed. Seems like the T30 would be the way to go, but the bike is over 551# when I'm on it.... Anyone running either of these tires or have an opinion they'd like to share?

    Thanks

Most of the "GT" tires intended for heavier bikes typically have stiffer side walls to accommodate the heavier loads. I personally wouldn't call the VFR750 heavy, Bridgestone may see it differently. You could probably get away with either version, but weight ratings are typically based on the bikes curb weight and not laden with rider, so yours is 86# less than what Bridgestone suggest for the GT tire. If it was my call, I'd get the non-GT version.

    Cheers

I put the non GT version on my 5th gen late last year and they're great. I wouldn't bother with the GT version unless you do a lot of 2-up touring.

Thanks for the replies, I was leaning toward the non-GT and will go with them.
