Hey 1st Generation dudes... I have a line on a Bassani 4-into-1 Performance Exhaust for my 83 'Ceptor. Mint, in the box. Now I'm not an expert, would I have to mess with the jetting if I install this thing? -- Alex

Yes, you would have to rejet and put in a K&N filter.

Yes, rejet. Air filter would be a good idea too.

Is this the set from NJ? The one that the guy listed twice on ebay for $1000 and didn't sell either time.

Yup this is the one. But I will not pay a lot for it either. Just exploring options. I missed a sweet set of Supertrapp slip-ons earlier in the month on e-bay. And a set of Vance&Hines that were rusty, but coulda been worked with. I have been looking for something to sweeten up my ride. Tough locating anything. Even if I put on a set of slip-ons, I have to get from the collector to the slip-on itself. A challenge for sure. So I found this Bassani thread here a while back. Talked the guy down to 600 and trying to get lower. Hoping he just wants to get rid of the thing once and for all. We'll see.

The Supertrapps (the new ones that I posted links to) are still up there, they've been relisted, same for the Cobra ones, I think. He came down in the buy-it-now price, too.

    Just curious...
Why would you want a 4 to 1 exhaust? Power?

IMO the stock twin pipes look alot better. You don't see many bikes with twin pipes anymore. In fact the only one I see alot of is the Busa's...

    Alex5160, yer gonna shoot me.
I bought that new-in-the-box Bassani spheghetti pipe back on 2/27 for $675 delivered. Frank there (at Bergen Cycle Sport, NJ) must have been working us against each other. I'm glad I got it, even at that price, since I had been looking for almost a yr.... they are almost impossible to find (1 was on ebay during Xmas 2007, but I lost out). Frank originally listed this for $1100 on ebay, with no bids, back in Aug 2007

Anyway, I've got the K&N (part HA-1245) air filter and the DynaJet kit for it. Once I get it all together (and patch a gas leak) I'll post an update here, and stick a sound clip out on YouTube.com (If you go to YouTube right now, searching on "Kawasaki Bassani", you'll hear a Kawi 550 with a Bassani - it sounds very similar.

Oh, and I also got some new SuprtTrapps slip-ons off ebay a few months back (before I got the Bassani). Probably snatched those from your grasp too. Sorry !

Do some research before you install the dyna jet kit I have never heard of a V4 that liked it.

Here is an initial summary of the exhaust system differences (weight differences only... sure wish I had a decimeter!)
