I just got my 5th gen. I'm 220 pounds, a gemini and would like a good baseline setting to start setting up my suspension to my riding style. I am orientated to the occasion canyon carving romps occasionally. Inputs are appreciated. My previous bikes have been set up for more aggressive riding.

    thanks

its for Gen 6 but Sportrider recommended:

1 line showing for front preload

    Rear preload 4 lines showing

rear rebound .5 turns out from full stiff.

You have a different suspension from me, but with your weight I bet it's close. Overall its almost as stiff as settings will allow. Good luck. One other thing, only mess with one thing at a time if you deviate.

I set my rear for the firmest setting and the front was also set on the firm side for aggressive canyon carving, If you ever have a extra $1000.00, the suspension upgrade to Race tech and Penske is well worth it because 5g suspention isn't known for it's quality...

Besides suspension advice, suggestions on how to convince the wifey that a $1000 needs to be spent on my mc is more important than the family would be appreciated.

The "it's for safety" reason is all played out!

Conversations like that a few years back ended up in a heated discussion one day with the women blurting out "you love that motorcycle more than you love me!".
Well I knew that this living with a women thing wasnt gonna work out so I burted back, "Well hell yeah!". She ran out the door and drove away.
Wifey got tossed. New bike bought. Life is good.

Is that SportRider Mag? I've seen they've posted a lot of their tech articles on-line. Do you have a reference for the article?
