    I am 5'10" and about 210lbs
    I have a 2004 Vtec

and I like to do long rides,
would like to be sitting up a bit more than I am now,
what risers to you guys suggest?

Helibars: I've heard good things about on one of the UK sites.
anyone have suggestions on where to purchase,
or any other brands I should be looking at?

Forget the heli's --- go for gen mar risers, they are much more comfortable.
    IMHO

I loosened the clip-on bolts and just raised them. That gave me exactly what I need. The clip-ons have this bit that drops down into the triple clamp to keep them from turning around if the bolt were to go loose. You can raise your bars far enough so that bit clears the triple clamps if you wanted to. Mine are in there, but just barely. But if you torque your bars down good enoguh you shouldn't have to worry about it. The rise was just what I was looking for, and was free.

I have heli's and corbin sitting somwhere in a train derailment between Iowa and Oregon. When UPS gets their shit together and delivers it I will take a picture with one bar changed so you can see the difference and give you my opinion. Two weeks ago, when I finished a 1K mile trip, I immediately ordered the heli's and corbin....

I tried helis on my old 99, they vibrated much more than my stockers, they lasted 1 20mile ride then I went back to stock. I also raised the clip-ons up to the top of the forks(after removing the retaining rings) and have had no problems on my 99 or my 06. Not to mention raising them up cost nothing.

Definitly Convertibars- if you can afford them. These are quality adjustable bar risers (or lowerers) and I have been very happy with them. Check them out at Convertibars.com.

maybe I'll just come down and check out your bike,

    I live in Bremerton, Wa
and have been visiting my parent's in Creswell (South of Eugene) about once every 6 weeks or so.

that trip is why I'm looking at risers.

The heli's and corbin are on the bike. I love the ergos - still a little lean forward but not so much as to make my wrists hurt. The Corbin is softer then the 919 version but still more firm and comfy than stock. I rode yesterday for almost 2 hours with very little butt pain where as I used to be butt sore in 45-50 minutes. Next thing to work on are the pegs....

Didn't get the pictures - it was too dark while I was installing them.

    Friday Night Live with Convertibars

    Heya Krautburner,
I'm installing convertibars on my '06 tonight in Mill Creek; Catch the 6:30 ferry and come help.

Good news: I'll provide the tools and beer.
Bad news: You have to ride home in the rain... :frown:

    Oregon roots

Hope they get in before the weather wets up. BTW, I'm from Glide Oregon and the highest points of my matriculation at Glide High School was our annual drubbing of Creswell on the gridiron! That was then...

I'm only 5'7" and 145 lbs. The stock bars were great for a day trip, but my neck and shoulders started to ache on the second day.

Installed Gen Mars (about $95). Big improvement, but still got painful on day three or four.

Switched to Convertibars including the longer brake, clutch and throttle lines for maximum reach (4" higher than stock) and pullback (2" more than stock). Did a 5,000 mile trip in June and just got back from a 3,000 mile trip including the Blue Ridge Parkway. No discomfort on either trip. Plus I can adjust the Convertibars back down and forward for track days. The only downside is the cost (about $550 plus 6 hours labor). Nevertheless, I can't say enough good about these Convertibars.
