    Hey all.

Was doing my first tire change on my VFR (04 w/ the silver wheels). Anyway, planned great care to not damage wheel in gettng the tire, but like an idiot, when I carrying the wheel (laid on the front deck of my 4 wheeler) back to my shop where my tire tools are and wasn't paying attention. going a fast walking pace, the wheel fell and hit the road and banged up the edge!

The damage is noticable and hate that it's there, but can probably live with it,Looks kinda like the bike fell over and scratched it up. However am concerned might have done more damage. how do check if all is ok with the wheel?

Sorry to hear about the mishap. If you spin it on a balancer without the tire, maybe that'll give you an idea if its serious? As far as structural integrity goes - I think it would take more than just being dropped a coule/few feet to cause anything serious.

Shit happens, but there's always something worse that could have happened.

Unless you sent the thing bouncing down the road and ran it over it'll probably be just some cosmetic damage to piss you off. +1 for Pliskin put it on a balancer while holding something next to the rim for reference while spinning. This should give you a pretty accurate account of wether it got tweaked.

    Thanks guys!

Yeah, I think its alright, just cosmetic. Not too noticable since its the silver metallic wheel and magnesium(i guess) underneath.

One more question. As I removed the caliper bolts and rotor bolts (on one side) they all had red loctite on them.

Do I need to use red loctite on everything again or should I use blue? (I was thinking the red is permanent.)

    thanks,
    john

Red Loctite is supposed to be something you need heat to remove, I have found this to not really be the case so much. I would advise against using red on smaller fasteners, but for brake components is seems wise to use the strongest possible to prevent losening of fasteners. My vote for caliper bolts is definately red.

It's not in fact THE red loctite that you see on there, but a Honda non-permanent thread locker that happens to be red in color. I would most certainly use blue loctite, not red.
