I think i might have a blown fork seal and after looking through the manual, it looks kinda messy and im not sure I wanna try doing it... Was wondering if anybody else did this and can tell me what they paid to get it done or if it really wasnt that bad to DIY.

What year is the bike? Try cleaning the seal first, most of the time that will fix the issue. All you need is a pair of scissors and a tropicana jug. Or you can buy the motion pro seal mate. Either will work.

2002, I got another quote for $320 as well. How can I tell if it is really bad? I just found some dirt n oil on the 1 side n started planning for the worst.

Where are you located? Doing it yourself isn't that hard. If you're close to Anaheim, I'd be glad to help you out. I won't charge $320 but wouldn't mind a nice donation...

Pittsburgh. I would try it myself but I'm not sure I can do it all on a center stand n I don't have any others.

Bummer. If you have your own garage, i.e. not in an apartment complex, you can always use a couple of eye hooks in the ceiling rafters and a good ratchet tie down strap. Works great in conjunction with the center stand. Although it's your money and your bike, but doing it yourself really isn't a hard thing, but having the right tools, room and time is really the key in getting it done right. Having a mechanical aptitude is another good thing to posses!

Bad would be dripping on the garage floor. If it's just a oily film, probably just a small piece debris between the seal and fork. I was able to get a seal on my 99 to reseal after cleaning. Do the following before you rip your bike apart:

I wonder how many folks have changed out seals for absolutely no reason. Clean your forks people.

yeh just don't get the old contaminated oil on your clothes, or you'll end up binning them. Don't ask how I know this. Not a big deal, nice to have a fork driving tool, there are some here that are ingenius and invent some decent solutions to tool problems.

OOTV my wife got a kick oot of your avitar, was looking over my shoulder (nosey) and commented on it. Anyway, Cheers.
