So folks, I'm back again, was Blackbear, now Blackbear2, second chance so to speak.
Got a 92 that I bought 2yrs ago from a older bloke up in NH with 7K miles on her. (has 20K now) I painted her red, has a recent corbin, helibars, fend elim and quite a few engine, tuning mods.
Last yrs project was to get it running perfect as the original owner had put on a really nice, full 2 Bros carbon system but never bothered to jet it.
I started with a good ole valve adjust, had the carbs on and off about 10 times until I nailed a Factory jet kit, raised the needles a whopping 3 notches and 145 pilots matched with a high flow intake and the fore mentioned full system 2 brothers, left side carbon exhaust. Syn the carbs, and it now runs as good as it gets with stock internals, so good in fact that I needed to add a new Barnett clutch.
This year (winter) its stripped again right down to the frame. Need to repair a bunch of broken tabs on most of the fairing components, kote the headers, (there out for the works treatment) rebuild the brakes, lines, front rotors and pull the front forks apart and see what a 15yr older looks like.
So folks, does anyone in this group know if an older CBR or 900 forks and / or rotors will work with a 3rd gen 92. Or what you all would recomend in the line of suspension improvements.

    BlkBear2:

Well its all in how much you want to spend.

Just replacing your front springs w. race-tech springs fro your weight with a heavier fork oil would make a hugh difference.

I just did this modification, or I should say had it done for me:

    .95 race-tech fork springs- 130.00 with shipping
    5wt oil set at 120 mm-12.95
CBR F3 fork internals installed (fork cap, fork rod and fork cartridge). This mod gives me rebound adjustment. $140.00

$282.95 is a hell of a deal for what the front feels like now!

    www.racetech.com

Watch ebay for F3 forks, you only need the insides, or blow that off and just do springs and oil.

    My 2cents!

    92 fork help

Thanks for the F3 CBR fork internals advice. I may go with this if:
There is a CBR 600 F4i/F4 (91-96) complete front end (forks, triple tree, bars) on e-bay right now that only has 3500 miles on them (suppos perfect)
Will this item bolt on to my 92 VFR with out a whole lot of mods? Will a F3?
How about CBR 600 rotors (mine are warped, thanks to "Manchester Honda")
Anyone have some experience with front end parts swapping with the CBR's?

I know the F4 internals will swap with the V-Tec VFR's, but I don't know if they will with your 3rd gen. I think not.

If you do a total F3 fork swap you'll need all the F3 parts, brakes, rotor, etc with the forks and tubes. The VFR brakes, etc. will NOT fit on the F3 front.

To double check, I suggest going to VFR Discussion. There is a really good write up on this modification.

I think just using all the race-tech goodies will save you time, headachs and money and still give you what you want. At first I was going to do a full F3 swap, then I decided against it until another member informed me the internals will swap out and I can keep everything else stock.

    Damn! You have a 3rd gen and I ride a 4th gen. I know the F3 internals will fit a 4th & 5th gen, but I don't know about a 3rd gen. Sorry Black Bear2, that's what I get for not paying attention.

    Anybody have the answer?

    Dumbass BZ at your service!
