    Hi Gang,

I am looking to get back into riding (last bike was a 99 Shadow 750) and am going to look at a 95 VFR with almost 30,000 miles on it. Is there anything specific I should be looking for or asking the owner about the bike, other than the maintenance history. I always wanted one of these bikes and hopefully will have one soon, or at least by spring.

    Thanks!!

Charging system is notorius for melting at the connector and starting relay. If so, it will go through a battery. Needs upgraded Reg/rec. and heavier wiring. No biggie.

Will need a rear shock, lots of options.

And worst, you'll become a member of the dreaded 4th gen NASA converts, a deeply perverted sect of worshippers of that one gen eration of viffers.

    BUY IT.

"Last of the carbed VFRs," so you'll never need to fret about blinking FI lights or the added wires, plug connectors, computers, + oxygen, barometric, and temperature sensors or the high pressure fuel pump.

It is a good bike bike but as stated previous the R/R is a steaming pile. Gen 3 and 4 are the very worst of the worst and would be something I checked before I rode it away or parted with cash. An easy fix but no need to pay good money just to have to repair it and if has not been done already you will have to.

Great, thanks gang, that's the kind of stuff I was looking for. At least I'll be able to figure out a budget for the bike and ultimately see if it's worth buying without dumping alot of money into it. I know it's gonna need tires, battery, chain and sprocket as I just found out. Basically the bike is gonna need to be gone thru, I'm sure a full tune up and the carbs checked out. We'll see what happens!

@ Metallican525 - Not sure how I came up with the handle, but I guess it makes sense, until they come out with an all wheel drive bike! lol (I'm sure there is one out there)

VFR shock, at least through gen 5, is junk

some will not know the difference until you ride on a better shock

best money you can spend on a VFR is a few bucks at the suspension
