As somebody has already said on the bottom of the link, that only 200 are coming to Canada. It will keep the bike exclusive but expensive. If you don't want to pay that price then the next person will. Its $16900 for the BMW so if this is who Honda are going for then it needs to hit this price or people will buy the BMW.

So, no vtech, right? I don't know what a lot of that motor talk means, but what I want to know is does it have a vtech system or not? I haven't heard anything sounding like vtech in any of the reviews.

I'm starting to desire one now, dammit! Only 18 kgs more? That's not too much for the amount of power that's been added. I'm diggin the looks, too.

    Thanks otto,

I found this info on the other site:

It's actually not VTEC as you know it. It uses the same technology to deactivate the valves, but it's now used for cylinder deactivation, not switching between 2-valve and 4-valve operation. And it's only on one bank of cylinders, so the front bank is standard 4-valves all the time, with the rear bank being either both cylinders in use, one cylinder in use, or both cylinders deactivated.

And unlike the 6th-gen VTEC, this system activates and deactivates cylinders based on a combination of throttle position and RPM, whereas the 6th-gen was just RPM, no matter how much throttle you were using.

this new system sounds like it will be better than the vtec, since it depends on the throttle input instead of just rpm. You need more power, you get more power; you don't have to wait until you hit a certain threshold to get the necessary oomph.

Fuel economy is the goal and it "should" work although some of us suffer from overly enthusiatic right wrists!

The bike that has been unveiled does not have the cylinder deactivation. That's rumored to be coming out on the touring model, 1200T, sometime next year. The 1200F is all cylinders, all valves, all the time.
