do you guys always use ur clutch when shifting ur bikes? i have an 07 viffer and i have caught myself shifting without the clutch and realized that i actualy usually get smoother shifts that way. i only do it when cruising. havent tried it when getting sporty and also was wondering if you guys shift without the clutch when under hard acceleration also. my main concern is if clutchless shifting will hurt my bike? thanks in advance

I do this to my Suz DR 650 all the time. I just preload shift lever a little bit and snap throttle closed for a split second and it always snicks right up into next gear. Never have had any problems with that bike or tranny. Its kinda my beater so I have been known to test things on it.

That being said I have never done it with my VFR and dont intend to. I am just to worried about doing something nasty to it and I love it too much haha! I did have a friend who was a very experienced rider do it on another bike and ended up taking third gear out of it stripped all the dogs off it I guess and bike is missing third now.

The risk it up to you. I just feel safer using the clutch.

Alot of the newer sport bikes have systems in the tranny and drive train to allow for this method of shifting and doing it with no risk to the internals of the tranny.

I often change up without the clutch, especially if I'm getting into sporty riding.

You might not want to do a clutchless upshift from neutal to first cog from a dead stop.

Si' thatts my spanish for the week! When I road-raced, (and thats the only time, me never used to clutch on up-shits) me would use dah clutch lever for the first up-shit from first to second but no-more from there.

Obviously, down-shits, you needs to clutch er your gona end up over a burm or a grassy run-off. If the Japanese gawds didnt want you to use a clutch, they woulda engineered your bikie with some kinda gimmicky BS shate, like a button (basically more electronic Thom-Foolery) so your lazy arse wouldnt have to clutch. Anywhoo, gud luck with your riding style

Someday sombody will invent a bike that is shiftless. There are plenty of riders just waiting for one. I expect Harley-Davidson will be ahead of the curve on this one.

Si and si' are two different words. One translates to yes, the other is a conditional. Then ya got "a si", which has a meaning sort of like "yes, I see. Then ya got asi which, in at least Mexican Spanish, takes the meaning of "thus" Then ya got asi-asi that is kind ol like a Latino verson of meh.
