What alarms do some of you have on your bikes and where did you purchase them from? I would like to get one that has the pager function so I will know when someone is messing with my bike immediately. I work in shady, low income, ghetto area right next to a middle school and co-worker's cars are frequently broken into. I am more worried about vandalism than it getting stolen, thus the pager need.

I saw some on ebay for reasonable prices, but I'm a little leary of buying something off of there and not getting any tech support, it being a piece of junk, or getting ripped off altogether. Many of the sellers in that product area are overseas and I have never bought anything from a seller like that. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, since nobody cares about getting their bike messed with, I went ahead and bought an Internatrix security sytem and installed it today. Let me tell you, this is one hell of a deal @ $140 shipped! It has all the same features as other alarms costing $100's more. Check out their site at http://internatrix.com/. It was easy to install (the basic install) and they have the best customer service of any company I have done business with. It was also to my house three days after I bought it and one of those shipping days was a Sunday!

Wow that is impressive! Does it have the pager you were talking about? My bike will be with me at school in the fall and I never really worried about anybody messing with my old one, but this one would probably sell pretty quick on the black market. Do they make any alarms with GPS tracking or something of that nature? Does your pager continue to go off once the bike is messed with or if you missed it going off could they still make off with your bike without you even knowing?
I haven't done much research, but at that price you now have me intrigued on the subject.

Visit their website to find out details. I just emailed that same question you asked about the pager. I assume it would keep vibrating if the alarm goes off for real. It will warn any potential thieves or vandals to stay clear with a verbal warning then the siren sounds five times it also tells you on the pager by vibrating once. If the person continues to stand near the bike or move it around the alarm will go off longer.

UPDATE: I tested the alarm myself in a would-be thief situation. I stood near the bike and it warned me, I continued to stand there and it went in to panic mode where the siren goes off continuously for 20 seconds and transmitter pages you about four times during that 20 seconds. It does the same thing if you move the bike twice witihin five seconds of the verbal and siren warning sounds. I would guess if you keep moving the bike or standing there it would keep going off. I didn't want to annoy my neighbors that much to find out!

I took pictures of my install and am trying to figure out how to change the size so I can post them on here.

The answer to your question of whether you would know if someone is actually taking your bike? Well, if thieves want your bike, they will pick it up and throw it in the back of a truck! No alarm, disc lock or even cable lock is going to totally protect you. At least with the pager, you can run out and look when you are notified! It starts buzzing you before it warns the person near your bike.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a pretty sweet system and I did check out their website and was pretty impressed. Installation seems like a snap too. Did you hook everything up or just the vibration and motion sensor? I would probably turn the motion sensor option off, depends on the number of false alarms I guess. I wonder if I put my bike cover on if that would set the motion detector off. The vibration is what I would want (ie. getting knocked over, or stolen!
    Thanks!

I did the basic install in about two hours. I will wait until I have more time to hook up the signal lights and ignition kill to the kickstand switch over the weekend as I will have to remove the left fairing to get to the wiring.

You can hook up the motion sensor, but you have to arm it seperately by pushing the arm button twice....so you can choose to have it on or not. The sensitivity is adjustable and mine only detects someone if they are right next to the bike!! I could adjust it so it reaches further probably, but I am usually parked in a parking lot and I don't want it warning me all the time. So the it works well and I use it!
