Hi everyone. Sorry I dissapered after asking a few swingarm questions a while back. Thought I would show some progress for the Swingarm mod I'm working on. It is just the ist dry fit. Still need to fine toon the placement a little. Finding a machinist to do the work took forever, then waiting for him to actually do it took longer. Needless to say, This is now a super slow proccess. But here it is. The swingarm is going into my FZR600 frame. I've got a question that affects future purchases for the bike mod. I'm very intreaged about doing a single nut conversion to get the RC45 wheel. I know the hub for the VFR acts like a cushion (cush drive), but the hub for the RC doesn't look the same. If I switch, will I lose the so called cush drive? If so, would I get any benifit from adding a slipper clutch then? Please don't bring up the money aspect as a negative. I've already got enough this bike that I could have gone out and bought a brand spanking new one. I'm just having fun now.
Cush drive will not have any bearing on your desire for a slipper clutch. Cush drive is for the longevity of the chain/sprockets on street going bikes. I have done less than 3500 miles on my cush-less rvf400 and already need to replace chain and sprocket soon (both are steel) and it has a slipper clutch. slipper clutch is for corner entry speed and prevents rear wheel hop during downshifting.
Thanks for the info. That is the first decent explanation I've heard about a slipper clutch. How do you like the 400? It has always been a favorite of mine and one I hope to be able to purchase in the near future.
