For those of you who were lamenting that you missed out on a truly classic and beautiful specimen of a genuine collector "bic"...

    You are in luck!

    "bic"

And to the person who bought this initially and then saw the original thread and decided to back out, you made a wise decision!

Here's the story from what I recall...

A few weeks back, Chrome posted a new thread about a "bic". If you read the seller's posting, you'll see that he can hardly even spell (including the word "bike"), so expecting grammatically correct sentences is way overboard.

At the same time the "bic" thread was going on, there were the usual debates about how people buying early generation VF's would inevitably end up posting here on VFRW, asking for help, and receiving the typical comments of "don't buy it", "run away", etc. etc. and that things would get out of control. V4Bear made a spot-on post that with all the mud slinging, that sooner or later Reg/Michael were going to start monitoring the forums. Lo and behold, no sooner has Bear made his post than Reg (I think) makes a separate post about monitoring. I hailed Bear as a prophet, and he agreed.

Now it appears whoever WAS going to buy this "classic" stopped by here, saw the thread, and did NOT buy it, so its back up for grabs. So Chrome (the OP on both the first "bic" and now this one), is letting everyone know its back up for grabs.

That's the story. Kind of... lol

I was thinking that perhaps a copy of that eBay post could be used whenever cuts in spending for education are discussed.

Then I realized the world needs burger flippers too.

Its the perfect bic for that.

    apology for the confusion...

    Hey Everyone,

Sorry for the confusion regarding this post. The back story is that I came across this listing while browsing one day and found it amusing enough to post here. I couldn't imagine who would take that auction seriously or pay more than a $100 bucks for a bike in that poor condition. Furthermore the seller seems to be oblivious to it's condition. (I did not buy it, I have an '83 Interceptor that needs a little love and it's 100% nicer than that one.) I was appalled to think that someone bought that bike for $455.

In the replies that followed we conjectured that the person who did buy it would wind up here trying to figure out how to fix it. Recently I came across the re-listing of it and re-posted it conjecturing that whoever bought it did come here to find out how to fix it, saw this thread, and backed out of the deal.

Of course now it is this joke that many people didn't understand and the lengthy explanation has made it not funny!

Here is the link to the original thread.

I got it and it was way more funny before the explanation. Metal and TOE are a bit slow - thanks for wrecking it guys.

even with the explanation for those that ride the short bus.. It still funny reading the Ebay sale description .. the backwards seat is a new break through in seat technology, you wear out the foam in a different direction than the previous owner so it feels like a brand new seat......... I would give him 20 bucks to put the thing in the middle of a field and pour gasoline on it and light it on fire.......or more fun shoot bottle rockets at it after the soaking...that would be freakin cool..............
