I was just surfing through a few pics and came across this image I took from my man cave last winter. I believe that I was working on the bike while all this was going on outside. My poor S4 was buried! So this is a reminder that something wicked this way comes. For some folks in the norther states, this warning comes too late! :hss:

It's a brisk 51 degF here in the Nations Capitol. Cool but still very rideable. Yet the clouds are looming and it is grey, indication a change is iminent.

We have nothing but sunshine in the near future which kinda sux. I have to take the wheels off the bike in a day or two to get ready to take them to Kelowna for powder coating. Sure as hell, it will start to rain by time I get back.

We get snow like that very occasionally but it is usually gone in a couple days. We got hit with a really bad storm around 96 or 97 that shit us down completely for a couple days. Only ones running were snowmobiles and those of us who were assigned Suburbans and were chained up. Even then, it was very hard to get around. Think we got about 20 inches of snow in a matter of 1 day. Wet heavy shit it was.

Jethro. Do you get the Lake Affect where you are or are you too far away from Lake Ontario for that affect? Guess the salt usage there is extreme.

No the Lake Effect snow happens south east of Lake Ontario on account of the prevailing winds. We are also too far from Georgian Bay to get much from there. However we do get a healthy quantity from time to time and the salt usage is extreme regardless.

I was in Richmond when that storm hit you and we were snowed in for days and then flooded when it melted. Had to walk for groceries!

Ya. Richmond amd the rest of the Lower Mainland only got about a half of the snow we got. We had the military helping to dig us out. Took about a week before the plows hit most the side streets. I think they plowed the streets of emergency first responders before the rest of the residential streets.

We live in houses here Long so don't need the igloo. Could use a toque and a pair of Mukluks though.

you guys keep posting pics of that white stuff. why don't you just keep it up in the mountains like we do here? then if you want to see if, it's just a couple hours ride, but if you want to surf, you just put on a wetsuit and go or if you want to ride you just stay inland. Makes sense to me.

If we didn't have all that flaky white shit half the year, the only thing we would be able to bitch about is the heat and mosquitoes.

BTW. I just loaded my tire cable chains in the truck an hour ago. Heading to the interior this weekend and with the Coquihalla, you never know.

I think Reg is onto something, let's just keep our snow in the mountains. We could still ski and never have to mess with battery tenders or stabilizer.

No snow in Kelowna yet Randy. Rode my bike to work today and probably will tomorrow. The early morning rode is a bit chilly but I am only 6km from work. That is the one nice thing about living in Kelowna. Riding across town only takes about 20 minutes max.

No snow forecast this week, but the Connector is always a crap shoot. Looking forward to seeing ya Randy. Drive carefully.

    Hey Scuba

Ya know, when flying in to Canada during the winter, there is nothing more picturesque than flying in to the airport and seeing the setting sun glistening off the roofs of the rows upon rows of igloos. Ya know when the furnace comes on in the igloo you gots to be careful cause if it gets too hot, your house melts. That's why we can't get flood insurance. LOL

I always know the white flaky stuff is on its way when the Honda/Stihl Lawnmower dealer in my complex at work stops putting out the riding lawn mowers, and starts displaying the big freakin snow blowers instead. Last year we had snow for a total of about one month over the course of the winter and it was warm enough to ride in Kelowna starting in late March. I felt sorry for you guys down east as your winter lasted sooo much longer than ours. Most all of Kelowna is close enough to the Okanagan Lake here that we rarely see snow at my house that lasts more than a few days. Hopefully snow is far off in the distance for you guys down east and that winter is very, very short.

The Canadian Indian knows it is going to be a cold winter by looking at how much firewood the whiteman cuts.
