I called the local honda dealer yesterday and was looking at getting a k&n air filter being it cost $10 more than stock... and the parts guy asked if i had a pclll in it? i said no the bike was completly stock then he told me to get a pclll for when i put the filter in.. the bike has a map sensor and o2 sensor does is really need to have a commander?? And i saw the forum on the difference in the bmc and k&n, they said the filtering surface on the k&n is smaller to produce the same airflow as stock, so again why would the dealer say u have to have a commander? does anyone have a k&n without a commander?
Power Commander You should not have an issue with just installing an air filter of your choice but a Power Commander will make your bike run much better. You will notice that the throttle is MUCH smoother. That alone made the cost of it worth it to me.I have installed three on gen 6's and we all can't say enough for the improved throttle control .
