I've been searching the forum. But don't know. So I ask.
What year CBR with the 929 shock fits a 5th gen? Looking on EBay. Or should I just buy one from Jamie D. ?
    thx

Not sure what year of 929 shock fits the 5th gen but I do know that the shock itself is a little short and a spacer is required to make it long enough. I asked Jamie D. to build a shock for my bike last year and he did a fantastic job and I think it is well worth the expense. I went for the full price upgrade ($415 US I think) just in case I were to ever sell the bike (thus giving the new owner more adjustability), but the upgrade can be done for less. Jamie can taylor the upgrade to your riding style and weight, is extremely easy to deal with and he will even supply the donor 929 shock ($40 according to his website) if you ask, that way you can keep riding until the replacement arrives. Just my 2 cents.

I have an '07 and due to incrumental changes in 6 generations it required more modifications than I was willing to do. So Jamie gladly took it back in exchange for an F4 premium upgrade. It is a 929(2000-2001) shock with the premium upgrade for a clothed 170 lb. rider. As zoom-zoom stated $415 US. Per Jamie the 929 fits on 5th gens with no mods. Contact Jamie and ask him about it. He also did the premium upgrades on my forks.

Just buy one from Jamie. He has stock and doesn't need an exchange unit.

As 2or4wheels mentioned the motorcycle requires no mods to accept the 929 shock that Jamie provides. The stock CBR929 shock requires a spacer to lengthen the shock as it is a bit short for direct replacement as I understand from the posts I have read on the subject. The spacer I mentioned is supplied by Jamie and comes installed on the 929 shock upgrade, so all you have to do is bolt the upgraded shock in place. Sorry if I muddied the waters a bit with that one.

I just picked up an cherry '86 750 RWB from an original owner and espoke with Jamie about shock options. He now has all of my particulars and I'm looking forward to the arrival of his solution to meet my needs. One stop shopping from a guy who cares! I can take care of the front end but I'll leave the shock to the best.

Thanks for the info, after reading this thread and a similar one on VFR Discussion, I also wrote Jamie this evening about a rear replacement and reworking the front end.
